30 Years of the Vigier 10/90

The very thing that makes Vigier “Pioneers of Carbon Fibre Technology” turns 30 this year! In 1988, Patrice Vigier ditched his fully carbon neck designs for something that favoured both the traditional sound and feel of Maple necks and the stability of Carbon. The 10/90 neck was born, containing 10% Carbon Fibre and 90% Maple. This neck design has been the figurative and literal backbone of all Vigier designs ever since.

The 10/90 neck eliminates the need for the outdated and easy-to-screw-up truss rod system that has been in use since the 1950s. Combined with our air dried, French-sourced woods, the necks on our instruments are even MORE stable. In fact, these necks are so stable that not only do they show up in showrooms around the room without a single twist or warp, but 9 times out of 10, they’re even in tune out of the box!

Besides the obvious stability, a super rigid neck adds loads of sustain, added brightness and clarity and improves string-to-string response. Their necks are completely without dead spots and will remain that way for the life of the instrument.
