Hand Picked Late 50's Les Paul Standard VOS Ice Tea Burst #GG68

December 2018 Gibson Custom Shop VOS '50s Hand Picked Les Paul Standard in Ice Tea. From a Run commissioned by Guitar Guitar, They picked out some seriously good Flame Maple Tops and the Necks were carved into a profile directly taken from the celebrated Collector’s Choice ‘Carmelita’ guitar. This is a shape that is widely agreed to typify that mythic late 50s carve perfectly, with a relatively thick feel that is just slightly slimmer than a typical ‘58. This one is particularly resonant and good sounding, it looks fabulous too... In very nice condition, a few signs of use but nothing serious, just a couple of very tiny marks. As a Late 2018 model it has all Hide Glue construction, True Historic plastic and parts, Carmelita top carve, rolled fingerboard edges, superb sounding, well balanced  Custombuckers and a great feeling neck carve with a nice dark fingerboard. It's plays beautifully and has a good full vintage tone. Great weight at 8lb 11oz....Original case, Cert and Tags.

The Gibson Custom Shop uses a body of solid, non-weight relieved mahogany, which blends depth and richness with the snap and clarity of the maple top. The quarter-sawn mahogany neck, which, in combination with the traditional long-tenon neck joint, enhances sustain and resonance as well as feeling great in the hand. These include a one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Kluson™ Deluxe machine heads, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod assembly with no tubing, accurate body and fingerboard binding color, new Custom Buckers created in the image of the original PAFs, and period-correct Aniline dye beneath its nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

Gibson Custom’s new Custom Bucker accurately recreates the original PAFs of the late ’50s, using Alnico III magnets and unequal turns of 42 AWG wire in each coil for that characteristic PAF “bite.” These pickups clean up beautifully at the guitar’s volume controls, while Bumble Bee tone caps assist in that warm, singing “woman tone” when you roll back the tone controls. To top it all off, the 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue plays superbly right out of its Custom Shop hardshell case thanks to a trip through one of Gibson’s state-of-the-art Plek machines before it leaves the Custom Shop floor.
