PRS McCarty Shootout in Sunburst. From a run of 10 guitars built for Headline music, the PRS distributor at the time. Sold by us new in 2010 and has been part of a collection with its single owner since then.
The PRS McCarty Shoot out guitars were made for a 'shootout' against Paul Reed Smith's own Vintage Gibson Les Paul. The pretext was that any of the shootout guitars could hold their own against the vintage Les Paul. The first "Shoot Out" happened at the Dallas Guitar Show, only 50 guitars were made and sold out worldwide soon after the show. Headline Music, the UK distributor for PRS Guitars, commissioned a second limited run of these Shoot Out McCarty's, this time limited to just 10 Guitars. This guitar is serial number 161641 which is number 5 out of 10 guitars made. Built by the Private Stock department, these guitars are the ultimate tone machines, the 57/08 pickups sound superb when combined with the specially selected mahogany body & neck. The special thin high-grade nitro finish really allows the guitar to breath and lets the vintage tones shine through. This is a really special sounding McCarty, far more vintage sounding than the modern equivalent. In excellent condition with light signs of use but nothing serious. With original PRS Private Stock Paisley Hard Case and tags. This is a highly rare and collectable PRS and also one of the best (in our opinion) sounding McCarty's we can remember.
